Who We Are 🌟

Genders & Sexualities Alliance Network (GSA Network) is a next-generation racial and gender justice organization that trains trans, queer, two-spirit, and allied youth leaders to organize an intersectional movement for safer schools and healthier communities. We work across a national network of 1,000+ active GSA clubs in 48 states and growing, representing thousands of young people building power right now.

Why Support Trans, Queer & Two Spirit+Youth?

Youth are one of the most politically underrepresented classes of people in this country, and TQ2S+ BIPOC young people bear the sharpest edge of that reality. They face legislative attack, systemic isolation, and violence at rates that compound every other form of oppression they navigate, and unlike most constituencies, young people have almost no structural pathway to advocate for their own conditions.

What most people don't think about is how expensive it is just to be young. Airlines charge unaccompanied minor fees that can double the cost of a plane ticket. Young people earn the lowest wages in the workforce while navigating exploitative working conditions, packed school schedules, domestic labor at home, and in many cases, caregiving responsibilities for younger siblings or family members. For TQ2S+ youth without supportive parents or guardians, every one of those costs lands directly on them with no safety net. And the funding landscape reflects none of this reality. Of every dollar raised for LGBTQ+ organizations, transgender-focused organizations receive an average of just 0.015 cents. The young people facing the most are the ones receiving the least.

For TQ2S+ BIPOC youth, these costs compound in every direction at once. The financial cost of being young, the political cost of being targeted, the emotional cost of navigating systems that were built to exclude you, and the labor cost of showing up anyway. When adults in young people's lives lack resources, those costs fall entirely on youth. That is the reality we are organizing inside of.

That is why all of our programming is free. Travel, accommodations, food, materials. No barriers. Our work is a belief campaign, and young people cannot imagine or build new worlds they cannot access. As adults, it is our duty to bring as many resources to youth as possible, so that the next generation is not paying the price.

Our Strategy: Devising Freedom 🌀

Our strategy is called Devising Freedom and it moves through four pillars.

🏠 Homecoming breaks isolation through base-building and collective action.

📖 Truthtelling records and preserves the experiential wisdom of TQ2S+ youth for political use and posterity.

🌱 Spiritsustaining tends to the full well-being of our communities against state violence.

Stargayzing cultivates the political will to move beyond all forms of captivity through world-building, intergenerational wonder, and creative inheritance.

This strategy drives our three interconnected areas of work: our National Network, which fortifies the GSA movement with funding, organizing infrastructure, and leadership development; our National School, which builds TQ2S+ political education through convenings, storytelling cohorts, curricula, and healing spaces; and our National Campaign, which drives collective action toward By 2030, our youth-led push for constitutional protections for students.

What We've Been Up To 📣

When Texas passed SB12, we fought it, showing up for TQ2S+ young people in the courts as vigorously as we do in schools and communities. Because young people deserve to understand the legal landscape targeting them, we created zines that break down complex constitutional and legislative challenges in language that is actually accessible to the youth most affected. We have been running storytelling workshops that help young people document their own experiences, building the narrative archive that will carry our movement forward. And our Youth Freedom Fund has been putting direct dollars into the hands of GSA clubs to run their own organizing and meet their own emergency needs.

🏕️ This June, we are bringing over 40 young people from across the country to our free, 5 day, 4 night National Activist Camp, the launch of our Campaign for Studenthood.

When Funding Gets Cut, Young People Pay

When prices rise and philanthropic dollars shrink, TQ2S+ youth absorb the loss disproportionately. Every dollar that reaches us removes a barrier, trains a leader, funds an experiment, and keeps a young person connected to a community that sees them. Your investment in GSA Network is an investment in the generation that is already, right now, building the future we need.
