You can help bring acceptance, love, freedom, and happiness to LGBTQIA+ people in Kentucky.
The Lexington Pride Festival is an important event for LGBGTQIA+ Kentuckians.. Attendees come from across the state (and from other states) for the chance to celebrate who they are in a safe and accepting environment. They come together to express themselves, to learn, to be a part of the community, and to have a good time. But the Lexington Pride festival means so much more than that. When asked what Pride meant to them at the Lexington Pride Festival in 2019, attendees answered:
ACCEPTANCE
LOVE
FREEDOM
HAPPINESS
For some people who attend, this event is the only time they experience these qualities while they are being their true selves. It’s the only time they experience a community where they truly belong. 2020 was a tough year for us all. The risk of COVID-19 meant that we couldn’t be together in person for Pride celebrations, and isolation from supportive communities impacted the mental health of many. We found new ways to connect, but we are ready to get back to supporting one another in person and to continuing the traditions our LGBTQIA+ community counts on including The Lexington Pride Festival.
You can help us create a new post-pandemic normal by making a donation to our Give Out Day campaign. Make your contribution today and it will be doubled. The Murry Foundation, committed to eliminating poverty and building thriving communities, is sponsoring the 2021 Lexington Pride Festival by matching donations made during through our Give OUT Day campaign in June. They will match each donation dollar for dollar up to $5,000 dollars.
If you share our campaign link with friends, your gift will be even stronger. The number of donations we receive will help us to win extra cash and prizes. Even $10 can make a difference.
With your help, we’ll create a Lexington Pride Festival and world where being free to be who you are and love who you love IS the new normal. All proceeds from the festival (above production costs) are used to help us keep our Pride Center in Lexington running all year long, bringing acceptance, love, freedom, and happiness to LGBTQIA+ people in Kentucky on an ongoing basis through an array of free programs and services. Our mission is to celebrate and empower the intersectional lives of LGBTQIA+ Kentuckians all year long, not just during Pride.
