In honor of the incomparable Sylvia Rivera and the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the Sylvia Rivera Law Project's goal is to raise $55,000 by Sylvia's birthday, July 2, 2024.

The Sylvia Rivera Law Project works to increase the political voice and visibility of low-income people and people of color who are transgender, intersex, and gender non-conforming. We do this by providing free legal services, building community, influencing policy, and advocating on issues relevant to our community members’ lives.  We use a multi-strategy approach to actualize change at every level of the system: we provide direct legal services to meet immediate survival needs, engage in litigation and policy reform to affect systematic change, and hold workshops, trainings, and community-building events to enact long-term sustainable impact.

Here is a glimpse of the crucial work your donation makes possible: 

• Through community organizing and impact litigation, SRLP continues to demand safe, accessible, and trans affirming healthcare for transgender and gender nonconforming people and all low-income New Yorkers. 
• In our Prisoner Justice Project, SRLP is ensuring the effective enforcement of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) in collaboration with SRLP’s Prisoner Advisory Committee, made up of incarcerated trans and gender non-conforming people. • Our Movement Building Team, along with BRC, just launched our pilot housing program. We currently have two apartments housing Trans and GNC folx in Brooklyn and the Bronx and look forward to growing this program with your support.
